The Painted Desert

My magpie mind hunts for dreams to steal
Takes them, confounding what is real
With tales of miracles in distant lands
Until they merge, like mingled coloured sands

Reminds me of Native Americans, and sand art - ever do sand art? God it's a pain! But my point it, love the imagery this one plants in my head

This started from a philosopher (I have been unable to remember or trace who) who was discussing epistemology (the science of knowledge), and made the point that if we hear "tales of m. in d. lands" our correct impulse is to doubt them; second-hand evidence for the suspension of natural laws has no value. (Aha- here's the clever bit - this quote is one of the dreams I have stolen).
